June 29, 2006 — Just as this entry was being wrapped, we heard about Peter Gammons’ unfortunate news. So, allow us to open by sending out good thoughts and prayers to Peter and his family. He’s a favorite around here. And we wish him strength, courage, health and a speedy recovery.
Moving on to Mr. Gammons’ favorite topic, let’s shed light on the last week’s baseball trends and player production, offering up little nuggets and tips to help you guide your fantasy team through the season. Truth is, it will be the smart little moves, pick ups and roster adjustments you make throughout the season that will win your league. Tweaks other managers in your league might not even notice … until they’re looking up at your derriere in the league standings.
And NOW is the time to start making those little moves when other managers start going “soft,” slacking up, losing focus.
This week, you'll probably notice that a lot of fantasy super stars have been struggling of late. Some actually suffering such prolonged, substandard seasons that it's time to start wondering what to do with them. Unless they play for Detroit, the first team to win 50 games. NOBODY won that office pool.
As always, we'll focus on guys who may be available in your league or prime trade targets/bait. To check out even more fantasy baseball players heating up or cooling off — 133 total players (60 AL, 73 NL) — log in to your MOTY account for the complete Week 12 Hot and Not list.
Like every week, players appear in this list for 2 reasons — they’re the guys who’ve both risen to the top in the Last Week (LW) MOTY rankings AND, more than likely, are available in your league.

Key to the “Not” list is that these guys are almost certainly on a roster in your league, possibly yours. And based on sluggish or declining Last Week (LW) MOTY#s, may be down trending … toward the bench for a while, (maybe) as trade bait or (gulp) dropped to the wire.
