Week 24: Hot and Not — The Home Stretch

September 23, 2006 — With only one week to go in the season, you’re looking at three outcomes for your 2006 season:

  • 1) You have your league title wrapped up.
  • 2) You are well out of contention (but want to finish as well as possible) and/or looking for potential keeper candidates for the 2007 season.
  • 3) You are in a down-to-the-wire, neck-and-neck race for the pennant.

While most any fantasy baseball fan should find this MOTY Talk entry insightful, this Hot and Not entry is of most value to those of you behind “Door #3.”

Maybe you plan to stream starters for a dozen or so strong outings. Or maybe you need to try to find a few cheap sb's to jump a spot or two in the category. Whatever your team needs over the next week, check out the following “Hot” players first to see if they’re available to help out your team over the next 9 days.

Likewise, consider benching (or dropping) guys who tragically made the “Not” lists. Hey, at this point who cares if you bench a slumping superstar? This is no time to be sentimental — you’re trying to win this bad boy, aren't you?

American League — Not

Players appear in this list for 2 reasons — they’re the guys who’ve both risen to the top in the Last Week (LW) MOTY rankings AND may be available in your league.

American League — Not

Key to the “Not” list is that these guys are almost certainly on a roster in your league, possibly yours. And based on sluggish or declining Last Week (LW) MOTY#s, may be down trending … toward the bench for a while, or (gulp) dropped to the wire.
